Why We Need Board and Supervisory Committee Members

It’s simple! Board members help set credit union policy, as well as evaluate it, which has a direct impact on the operations of the credit union. The Supervisory Committee assists the board in overseeing the operations of the credit union, but their main role is to provide an additional set of checks and balances. The Committee ensures the credit union maintains its financial integrity by providing guidance and understanding of agreed upon procedures and audits conducted on the credit union.

Finding Interested Members

In order to find a member interested in becoming a Board or Supervisory Member we will post a message on our website, Facebook, online/mobile banking and have displays in our lobby areas. Staff or board members may also refer members who are interested in serving in this capacity.

Application and Acceptance

A member interested in becoming a Board or Supervisory Member must be a member in good standing and be a minimum age of 18. An interested member will submit a resume, a professional picture and a completed application (see attached) to the board. The nomination committee will notify qualified applicants by April 10th, 2026. A majority vote by membership will take place April 21-27th, 2026. Elected members will be announced at the annual meeting May 12th, 2026.

Role Requirements

On the appointment of Board or Supervisory Committee member, you will be asked to read and sign the Confidentiality statement found in the credit union’s policies. You will also be asked to serve a 3 year term and attend monthly board meetings held the fourth Monday of each month at 3:30pm. Meetings are held at KCCU's main location at 5110 Ararat Dr Kansas City, MO 64129 or virtually via Zoom. Board and Supervisory committee members are also required to serve on various appointed committees throughout the year, which may call for additional commitments of time. Because Kansas City Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution, Board and Supervisory committee members serve without pay.

Education

Each Board or Supervisory Committee Member is encouraged to seek out credit union educational opportunities whenever possible. We also encourage you to review our website at kansascitycreditunion.com, Facebook and any other related credit union documentation.

Dismissal

Any breach of confidentiality or lack of attendance may be grounds for immediate dismissal of the Board or Supervisory Committee
