What You Need to Know About Overdraft and Overdraft Fees Your Bridge Credit Union Checking Account.
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. We can cover your overdrafts in two different ways:
We have standard overdraft practices that come with your account.
We also offer overdraft protection plans which may be less expensive than our standard practices. Our standard practices include linking your primary share savings accounts, at no additional cost to you. To learn more, ask us about these plans.
We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do NOT authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.
OUR STANDARD OVERDRAFT PRACTICES:
We DO authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
Checks and other transactions made using your checking account. The second item goes here

YOUR RIGHT TO OPT OUT OF OVERDRAFT COVERAGE
You may tell us not to provide our Courtesy Pay Service to your accounts. If you choose to do so, we generally will refuse to honor any transaction that would overdraw or further overdraw your account although we do retain the legal right to pay such an item.
WITHDRAWAL OF SERVICE
After your Courtesy Pay has been activated, we may suspend your Courtesy Pay if you are later determined not to be eligible. Our Courtesy Pay Service is designed to cover an occasional problem situation. It is not intended to serve as a line of credit. The Credit Union reserves the right to withdraw the service if it is abused. The credit union also always retains the right to close a share draft (checking) account. An account which is chronically overdrawn, or which otherwise reflects poor funds management will be reviewed for closure. If you are experiencing financial hardship, please contact us regarding our financial counseling.
CHANGES TO OVERDRAFT POLICY
The Credit Union reserves the right to change this Overdraft Policy and/or Courtesy Pay Service at any time or to discontinue offering the Courtesy Pay Service altogether.
